How are they? I am still playing The Show from last year. My guy is a CF for the Yankees. I think I am in 2012 and have played every game to this point. This game is just as fun now as it was last year when I got it.

Can you import your old RTTS guy into the new game?

I wonder why they did not allow you to import your guy? I am still playing 08 and loving it as much now as I did last year.... I want to see if I can get my guy into the HOF.

Hoping to get my ps3 soon (b-day coming up!!)..

Right now, I've been playing 2k9 a lot. I actually seem to be in the minority, but I am enjoying the game. The main thing people seem to forget now is that these games are VIDEO GAMES and not real life. So I enjoy it for what it is.

Anyway - VC has upgraded the visuals from 2k8, and the gameplay is smooth. No more worrying about downloading to the HD to get a game to field smoothly.

Pluses for me:
+ Living Rosters/2k Share: Can't say enough about this feature. Everyday I log on, the game looks for a revised roster set. 2k Share helps to get a nice slider base to play with.
(PS - VC can actually change things in game with the rosters itself -- they have gone and corrected the Cards road batting helmets, and have corrected parts of the Cubs schedule to play more day games)
+ Hitting/Pitching: basically the same as last year, so it is quick to pick up. The swing stick is a tad easier this year as you don't have to worry so much of the "step back" feature with the stick.
+ Gary Thorne/Steve Phillips: Better than the Morgan/Miller
+ Fielding: Everything seems controlled with the analog stick, and done very well.

Minuses:
- Baserunning: having a hard time stealing and keeping control of my runners. Needless to say, I find myself running out of innings
- "Quirks" -- this is one that boggles my mind. Every now and then, the 1b man will be pulled off the bag. Seen it a few times to the point of where you scratch your head. Also, the fielders will let balls just drop over their heads.

Overall, I would give this game a 7 out of 10. I think VC did a great job with the time they had with the game, and look forward to the future

Now, if only someone would give me my ps3 already !!

The Show is the only game I play on the PS3 - I have not played 09 and might not since I still love 08 so much buy what I said last year still stands, "The Show 08 is the best sports game I have ever played."

"The main thing people seem to forget now is that these games are VIDEO GAMES and not real life."

I agree 100% - Games are supposed to be fun. They are GAMEs, they are not simulations of real life as if they were, we would have no control over the outcome. There are certain people in the gaming community that have forgotten this and are looked up to for some reason.

When a game is no longer fun, I quit playing.

I loved Pulp Fiction, it was a great movie. However, I bet I could rip the movie apart. Just look at this and you can see all the "bugs" in the film - I guess it is junk too.

Some people just get a kick out of ripping the work of someone else apart. It makes them feel better.

After reading a lot of the bashing, I want to tell these people that if they don't like it, go back to baseball gaming on the Atari 2600.. then we can talk..

2k9 is a solid game. It has to be looked at and approached from a different perspective. If you do this and are patient with the little differences that the player needs to learn that is slightly different from games before you can find a really solid game. Yes the quirks are there, but I almost like them, except for the first base thing.

I have been playing a couple of ranked games, and they are interesting. I had 3 wild games, with slugfests, and then I had a 13 inning battle that ended with a mistake pitch that was launched into Wisconsin when playing in Wrigley Field. I had one blowout that I pissed a user off as he was playing crap ball and me of all people was patient and lit him up for 13 runs in two innings before he quit.

I am really liking this. VC has a winner, just more people need to step back and forget about the past and look at this with a clean slate. Hoping to get some of my ideas and thoughts out on a review. All the groaning I have done on baseball games over the years, I cannot let this effort go unsung without praising the effort.

Being I am still a 360 fan way over Sony, I do not see my getting The Show although it is hard to not want to, but just cant afford it right now, with having to get a PS3 in the equation.

Yes I am. I still waiver with what I play quite a bit. I still play a lot of Call of Duty online (offline bores me), but MLB 2k9 is still a good fill in. I liken it to College Hoops, just a good final relax before I hit bed at night.

I have been toying with the sliders, and I still end out coming back to the default settings. Other then the pitch count, it is about the only thing truly off for me, and that is mainly cause of my lack of discipline at the plate.

Still wish I could play The Show though just to see the difference. The PS2 version I dont think gives me enough of an impression. Though I may be creating a baseball gamer with the little one, cause he wants The Show, and it would be a lot more simple for him to pick up and get enjoyment out of.

Definitely. Always look for a good game. Of the half dozen or so I've played online I've had 3 good opponents, the rest just exploit the flaws versus playing.
